Why Do You Need CommsMobile's VoLTE?

As we move towards phasing out our 3G network, you'll need CommsMobile's VoLTE to make or receive phone calls. Therefore, it's important to ensure that your device is compatible with CommsMobile's VoLTE.


How to Check if Your Device is Compatible with CommsMobile's VoLTE?

To use CommsMobile's VoLTE service, you need a 4G device that's compatible with VoLTE. The following devices can make and receive VoLTE phone calls:

  • Apple iPhone 6 onwards
  • Apple Watch 3 onwards
  • Samsung Galaxy S7 onwards
  • Samsung Note 5 onwards
  • Samsung Galaxy A5 onwards
  • Google Pixel devices
  • LG G5 onwards

All the devices available on the Second Life Shop are compatible with CommsMobile's VoLTE. If you're not sure if your device can use CommsMobile's VoLTE or if VoLTE is turned on, you can follow these steps.


How to Enable CommsMobile's VoLTE on Your Device?

Enabling CommsMobile's VoLTE on your device is easy. The steps differ slightly depending on your device.

For Apple Devices:

  1. Check your mobile phone's operating system is updated to the latest iOS version:
    • Go to 'Settings'
    • Select 'General'
    • Scroll to 'Software Update' and follow the prompts
  2. Make sure you have the latest carrier build enabled:
    • Go to 'Settings'
    • Select 'General'
    • Select 'About'
    • Scroll to 'Service Provider' and check that it is at least Telstra 35.0. If an update is available, you'll see an option to update your Service Provider settings.
  3. Turn on VoLTE:
    • Go to 'Settings'
    • Select 'Mobile'
    • Select 'Mobile Data Options'
    • Select 'Enable 4G'
    • Select 'Voice & Data'
    • If available, turn on VoLTE.

If you have a 5G iPhone, VoLTE is automatically enabled on your device. VoLTE will typically be turned on within 4 hours of completing the above steps.


For Other Devices

  1. Make sure your mobile phone's operating system is up to date. Once it's up-to-date, VoLTE will typically be turned on your device within 4 hours.
  2. Check with your phone's manufacturer if you need a hand figuring out how to update your phone.
